Expat Style: 1 Dress – 3 Outfits (featuring Boutique of Molly)

Alright y’all. Today I’m going to step out of my comfort zone a little bit and bring you a post all about fashion. Earlier this month, I was contacted by Boutique of Molly. They were kind enough to offer me a discount to try out one of their pieces. I’m always looking for a good bargain, so I jumped at the chance. While browsing their site, I quickly fell in love with their Floral Shift Dress. It was really afforable (only £16.95/$25.98), so I ordered it right away.

Now, you’re probably thinking, “Angie, you’re not a fashion blogger. What are you doing?” Well, you’re right. I’m not a fashion blogger, but I am a pseudo-travel blogger. Therefore, it’s really important for me to have a super comfy wardrobe that a) I can wear during a trip and b) I can wear several different ways when I get there. When I pack, I like to have only a few things that I can use a bunch of different ways. So, I’m going to show you how I styled this super cute Floral Shift Dress to create 3 different outfits.

imageI’m a sucker for florals, so I thought it would be a great addition to my spring/summer wardrobe. I tried it on, and this dress is comfy. I can definitely see myself wearing this on the flight back to the US. One word of caution though, this dress may not be for you if you’re not a fan of really short dresses. I’m only 5′ tall, and it was even short on me. Luckily, I love super short everything! So if you’re brave enough to show off those wonderful legs of yours, here are the 3 ways I styled this amazing piece

I put together this outfit with date night in mind. The boyfriend is a 6’4″ Viking, and I like wearing high heels. So, this outfit is definitely something I would wear going out to dinner or whatnot. I styled the dress with a faux-leather jacket by Vertigo Paris that I found on sale on Ideel and a pair of sky-high wedges from JustFab.

On to the next!

For the second outfit, I thought about how I could use this dress for work. I’m a pre-K teacher, so I spend my days chasing after small children. I definitely want a little more coverage on a work day, so I  added a gray longline cardigan from Burlington Coat Factory.  To add a titch professionalism, I added studded ankle boots from Ross, and a braided belt from Ann Taylor. Not pictured are the black tights. In a work setting, I would definitely want my legs covered in this short-as-short-can-be dress, but they’re in the washer right now tbh…

And finally!

This last outfit is a shining example of my daily style. I’m all about keeping things casual, but I like looking pulled together. I can definitely imagine boarding a plane,  going out to brunch, walking my dog, or running errands in this. I paired the dress with a Jessica Simpson denim jacket and leopard print sneakers, both found at Marshall’s. I’m a big fan of mixing patterns, and I do it all the time. The easiest way to mix them is by having one dominant pattern (the dress) and a second muted pattern (the shoes). I will probably wear this outfit all the time.

Now that I’ve shown you the outfit options, it’s time to see them on. I’m definitely not a model, and I didn’t feel like doing my hair or makeup. I know, I’m lazy, but you get the idea.

After working with this dress all day, I would give it 5 stars. I cannot stress enough how incredibly comfortable it is. After I took the photos, I sat on the couch for a bit editing them. I’m actually still in the dress right now. I’ve been wearing it for hours, and it’s still just as comfy as when I put it on. (And in case you’re wondering I just stood up and – NO WRINKLES!) I would 100% purchase from Boutique of Molly again, and I suggest that you do the same. The one down side is that the shipping to Denmark was a little more expensive than I’m used to, but that’s basically how it is when you ship things here. On the plus side, the clothing they sell is so affordable that I don’t mind paying the extra shipping at all. This dress isn’t the only cute thing on the site either. There are a good deal of adorable items, and they add more all the time. As an extra bonus, you can get 10% off of your first order with the code MOLLY. So get shopping!

  1. Love the outfit! It’s definitely important when travelling / moving somewhere that you can only take a few items to have multi purpose clothing. Great first fashion post 🙂
