Work Appropriate Wednesday | DIY Wind Up Doll Costume

Hey everyone! I’m back with another edition of Work Appropriate Wednesday 🙂

Last Friday was Fastelavn here in Denmark (which is basically the Danish version of Carnival/Halloween). Naturally, we celebrated at work by dressing up in costume. I had a whole class of 4-year-old superheroes and princesses, and it was super adorable. I love dressing up in costume, but I didn’t have the time to put my usual effort into anything fancy.

So I threw together a quick 15 minute costume and became a wind up doll!

All it took was a toilet paper roll, some cardboard, a bit of paint, a piece of ribbon, and my usual clothes. If you’re curious how I made the key, you can find a tutorial here.

Top: Gap | Skirt: Levi’s | Tights: Target | Shoes: Thrift Store

I’m so pleased with the way this costume turned out (even though my students thought I was a robot). This is definitely an idea that I’m gonna keep in my back pocket in case I need a last minute Halloween costume in the future.

What do you think about this costume? Is this something you would try for yourself?
