About Me

Hi, Iโ€™m Angie!

I’m half Mexican, half Venezuelan, and 100% American.

I left the US in 2014, and I learned quickly that โ€œhomeโ€ can be complicated concept. After 9 years in Denmark, Playa del Carmen became home. 3 years after that, I added Nashville to the list.

I started this blog way back in 2015 and documented my life as preschool teacher while navigating non-EU residency. This silly little blog helped me discover my love of storytelling, and in 2021, I left the classroom to pursue a career as a freelance writer.

In 2023, I moved to Playa del Carmen to reconnect with my Mexican roots, be closer to my family, and finally put my Mexican citizenship to good use. Now, Iโ€™m exploring Mexico through the eyes of someone who is both local and a foreign remote worker.

In 2026, I met my boyfriend and added Nashville to my list of home bases. Now, I’m getting settled into life in Tennessee because I fully intend to split my time between both countries. The universe has a pretty great sense of humor because I spent years saying, “I’ll never live in the US again.” Famous last words…

Above all else, the one thing I’ll ever do is gatekeep. I love sharing all of the incredible places and experiences that Playa (and now Nashville) have to offer. If you love swimming in cenotes, sipping cocktails at beach clubs, visiting local festivals, or getting birria tacos from the truck on the corner, I’m your girl. I’ll also bring you along while I explore Broadway, the mountains, and Tennessee music scene!

This blog has always been a place for me to write about my everyday adventures through the lenses of the multiple cultures that have shaped me (while also learning Spanish as a No Sabo Kid).

Welcome to my little slice of paradise!
